Generally speaking I don’t like nature photography in black and white. In most cases it takes from the scene without adding anything. The exceptions are the rare compositions when black and white adds mood and atmosphere that weren’t present in the colour version. I think this tūturiwhatu (New Zealand dotterel) shot meets the brief.
